Major 2011/2012 Legislation

AB 80 – Changes the date of the presidential primary election to the first Tuesday after the first Monday in June to consolidate with the statewide primary election.  NEUTRAL - Signed by the Governor

AB 447 – Increases disclosures in broadcast campaign advertisements.  OPPOSE – Died in committee

AB 459 – Ratifies an interstate compact where the state agrees to award its electoral votes to the Presidential ticket that receives the most nationwide popular votes.  SUPPORT – Signed by the Governor

AB 744 – Establishes the Office of Intellectual Property to identify and provide policy guidance for managing intellectual property developed by state employees with state funds.  WATCH – Requested amendments for creative works exemption

AB 1148 – Makes significant changes to required disclosures on campaign advertisements.   OPPOSE – Died on Assembly Floor

AB 1270 – Restores the ability of broadcast journalists to conduct pre-arranged interviews with specific prison inmates.  SUPPORT

AB 1396 – Requires that employees who are paid by commission receive a written contract on the terms and conditions of employment.  NEUTRAL – Signed by the Governor

AJR 22 – Asks Congress to send a constitutional amendment to the states for ratification to overturn the Citizen’s United court decision.  WATCH

AJR 25 – Urges Congress to enact the Los Angeles Residential Helicopter Noise Relief Act that instructs the FAA to issue regulations for helicopter operations in the County.  WATCH

SB 202 – Moves all ballot measures to the November general election.  OPPOSE – Signed by the Governor

SB 914 - Prohibits the search of information contained in a portable electronic device (cell phone, etc.) by an arresting law enforcement officer without a warrant issued by a judge using established procedures.  SUPPORT – Vetoed by the Governor
