CBA Mission

The California Broadcasters Association promotes customs and practices in the best interests of broadcasters and the publics they serve. The impetus of this mission rests in the belief that broadcasters play an essential role in their communities. Their powerful influence is given and guarded by the fundamental rights of this country and in return, each radio and television station must operate "in the public interest."

Broadcasters offer a diverse range of general awareness and audience education, coordinate charitable events, donate to philanthropic organizations and causes, and support local events. The CBA provides whatever assistance owners and station managers need to fulfill their duties to communities.

CBA President/CEO

Stan Statham, President/CEO of the California Broadcasters Association, began a radio career at the age of 20 as a 1950s disc jockey in Chico, California and moved quickly as the on-air personality "Stan the Man" at top-rated KROY in Sacramento.

In 1966, Stan began his 10 year television stint as News Director at CBS affiliate KHSL-TV in Northern California.  Channel 12 was only one of two stations covering a huge 13 county area.  During this period Stan expanded local news coverage from 30 to 90 minutes nightly while anchoring the 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. newscasts.  He instituted regular coverage at the state capitol in Sacramento and interviewed politicians and celebrities of the time; from politicians Ronald Reagan, Henry Kissinger, S. I. Hiakawa and Jerry Brown to celebrities Eddie Albert, Evel Knievel, Jerry Lewis, Robert Conrad and others.

In 1976, he entered politics and was elected California's 1st District Assemblyman representing 9 counties between Sacramento to the Oregon border. He held that office for 18 years. As Chairman of the Assembly Television Committee he led a historic move to further open government by initiating televised "live" proceedings of the House.

In 1995, Stan left the Assembly to assume his present position working for all California's broadcasters.
